Our Take

Mercury is the gold standard for startup and online-business banking, and the free tier gives away things competitors charge for: domestic wires, USD international wires, unlimited transactions. The catch is yield. Operating balances earn nothing until you have $250k to put into Treasury, so cash-rich small businesses earn more at Bluevine or Relay. If you never touch physical cash and value software quality, this is the one.

Best for: Startups and online businesses that want free wires and serious software
