  • $20,000 free cash deposits per fee period

Optimize Business Checking

$75, not waivable but offset by an earnings allowance on balances; covers up to 5 linked Optimize accounts

  • 250 free transactions per fee period
  • Earnings allowance offsets eligible service and treasury fees
  • Treasury management tools: ACH origination, fraud services, lockbox, Desktop Deposit

Features

  • Tiering by transaction volume: 100 or 250 free transactions, $0.50 each beyond
  • Cash deposit allowances of $5,000 (Initiate) and $20,000 (Navigate) per fee period
  • Optimize earnings allowance can zero out fees for balance-heavy businesses
  • 4,000+ branches and roughly 11,000 ATMs
  • Digital invoicing and mobile deposit included
  • March 2026 repricing raised Initiate's fee and waiver bar

Pros

  • +Clear upgrade path from startup tier to full treasury management
  • +Navigate's $20,000 cash deposit allowance is generous for retail businesses
  • +Optimize's earnings allowance model suits high-balance, high-activity operations
  • +Massive physical footprint

Cons

  • 2026 repricing made Initiate worse: fee up 50%, balance waiver bar quadrupled
  • No interest on the entry tier
  • 100 free transactions on Initiate trails free accounts at several regional banks
  • Wells Fargo's service-quality reputation still lags peers

Our Take

Wells Fargo's tiers are coherent, but the March 2026 Initiate repricing stripped the entry tier of its main appeal; at $15 with a $2,000 waiver bar it is now just an average big-bank account. Navigate is the sweet spot if you deposit serious cash, since $20,000 of free cash handling beats Chase and BofA at the same price point. Choose it for the branch network and cash limits, not for yield or price.

Best for: Cash-heavy businesses that can clear Navigate's balance waiver
