The Compound Verdict

Blue Sky was the card Amex never advertised: 1 point per dollar, with 7,500 points wiping 100 dollars off any travel purchase for an effective 1.33 percent. It survived quietly for nearly two decades after its mid-2000s launch, closed to new applicants, until Amex converted the remaining accounts to Cash Magnet in January 2026 and credited out leftover points. A footnote card, but a fondly remembered one.
