The Compound Verdict
The Priority card is now a benefits card, not a near-free points card. Its $229 fee makes sense when free bags and Preferred or Extra Legroom seats save real money for several travelers on the same reservation; solo travelers who rarely check bags should compare the cheaper Southwest cards. The welcome bonus can help earn Companion Pass, but the card is unavailable to current personal Southwest cardholders and generally to those who received a personal Southwest card bonus in the past 24 months.
