Columbia Bank expands $250 checking bonus to Colorado

Columbia Bank's $250 checking bonus is now available in Colorado, following its expansion to Utah. Eligible customers in California, Utah and Colorado must open an account at a participating branch and meet balance, direct deposit and online banking requirements.

What Changed
Colorado joins the states where Columbia Bank offers this bonus, with Utah also recently added. Eligible accounts are Pinnacle, Embark and Foundation checking, and a banker must activate the promotion at account opening. Existing checking customers and anyone who had a deposit account in the last 12 months are excluded. The bonus is limited to one per household per address and is paid within 45 calendar days after all requirements are met, provided the account remains open without a negative balance.
Our Take
This is worth considering if you can visit a participating branch, maintain the required balance and meet the direct deposit requirement. Embark's $3 monthly fee can be waived with eStatements, but the bonus is taxable.
