Our Take

Wells Fargo checking is the definition of a branch-access account: zero yield, decent app, a bonus every so often, and a teller wherever you happen to be standing. Everyday Checking with a normal paycheck is free and perfectly serviceable. The Prime and Premier tiers only make sense if you want relationship loan pricing, because the rates alone won't move you. Keep your savings at an online bank.

Best for: Branch loyalists who want coast-to-coast coverage and the occasional bonus
