    • +The only major no-fee balance transfer offer of its era

    Where it costs you

    • Earned zero rewards
    • Useless the moment the intro APR window closed

    The Compound Verdict

Slate never earned a point and never needed to: its 0 percent intro APR with no balance transfer fee in the first 60 days was unique among major issuers, making it the default debt-consolidation recommendation for most of the 2010s. Chase pulled it from sale in late 2020 and launched Slate Edge in 2021. Note that the Chase Slate name was revived on a new 2026 card, which we cover separately, this page is the original.
