Credits

Benefits

  • Spends like debit against your linked bank balance, reports as a credit line
  • Daily autopay makes missed payments structurally unlikely
  • No credit check, no interest, and no SSN-based underwriting hurdles
  • Built for college students with budgeting tools in the app
  • Issued through Lead Bank on the Visa network

Why it earns its spot

  • +Debit-style mechanics with a real credit tradeline
  • +No interest and no overspending risk
  • +Student pricing is cheaper than the general rate

Where it costs you

  • Costs $5.99 a month for students and $11.99 for everyone else, about $60 to $144 a year
  • Stopped reporting to Equifax in September 2025; only Experian and TransUnion see it
  • Free rivals like Chime, Varo, and Current do the same job

The Compound Verdict

Fizz was a clever free hack for college kids; Mine is the same product with a subscription attached and one fewer bureau on the report. Paying $60 a year for a tradeline that Equifax never sees is a hard sell when Chime and Varo charge nothing and report to all three. Only worth it if the app's student budgeting features genuinely earn their keep.
